Orthoganthic (Jaw) surgery assisted orthodontics
Usually, the crooked teeth and bad occlusion/bites can be corrected by orthodontics alone. However, for patients whose orthodontic problems are so severe that neither growth modification nor camouflage treatment offers a solution, surgery to realign the jaws or reposition jaw segments may be required. With these specific cases, Dr. Shen will work with an oral maxillofacial surgeon. Dr. Shen will provide orthodontic treatment, while the surgeon will perform the surgery.
The combined orthognathic surgery with orthodontic treatment is to not only improve the alignment of the teeth, but also provide a healthy jaw relationship for a long-term stability.
